Armidale Dumaresq Council has postponed its sesquicentenaryuntil the new year.
Mayor Laurie Bishop said the new dinner day would coincidewith the launch of Council’s sesquicentenary book.
“There have been delays inpublication and at this stage we still don’t know when it will be ready,” hesaid.
“The committee organising thedinner had planned the book launch be a central focus as so much work has goneinto compiling it and has made the decision to defer.”
Cr Bishop said the first meeting of the first council inArmidale had occurred in January 1864.
Meanwhile a production of ArmidaleOur Town will go ahead as planned.
The play includes original musicby Bob Thompson and Chris Cunningham and will raise funds for a new library,which is part of the Armidale Civic Precinct project.
Bookings for performances onFriday November 22 at 11 am; two more matinees on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24November at 2pm and evening performances on Friday November 22, and thatSaturday at 8pm (Gala Night) can be made at Carr’s NewsXpress in Central Mallor www.armidalecivic.org.au
