THAI FESTIVAL: James O’Grady and Luke Kake doing a Thai kickboxing demonstration at last year’s Loy Krathong.THE fourth Port Lincoln Thai festival will be held on the foreshore lawns this weekend.
This year along with the traditional Thai food and entertainment, the Loy Krathong Festival will include a Celebration of Asia fashion parade into the evening.
Festival organiser Nola Williams is encouraging as many people as possible to dress in their traditional dress for the evening.
“It’s an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the Asian cultures represented here in our Port Lincoln community,” she said.
“It’s a great family night and there will be some outstanding performances on stage over the three-hour program including professional Thai dancers from Sydney, a local Muay Thai kick-boxing demonstration and local dancers representing the Thai and Filipino communities.”
Another great crowd is expected this year and there will be eight different food stalls to cater to a variety of tastes, offering locals the chance to try flavours not readily available in Port Lincoln.
The Lions Club will also support the event by selling drinks as a fundraiser along with Lions Club Christmas Cake.
There will also be Thai massage and a Thai clothing and souvenirs market during the evening.
The festival will be held this Saturday, November 16 from 5.30pm.
