nww 277490YOU might catch him in Sydney next time you’re clubbing if that’s your thing, but just who is DJ DACO?
DJ DACO, or Dale Cole, is a 19-year-old tradesman from Penrith.
Cole only started DJing early this year.
“All my life, since I was about 14, I’ve been downloading and listening to music,” he said.
Then Cole got the chance to do Your Shot 2013, a national DJ competition for start-ups.
While he didn’t win, the festival gave him the chance to meet people in the industry.
Now he’s playing at clubs and events around Sydney, including a set at the Australian Brewery and a recent boat party for 300 people.
“I love music,” he said.
“To be able to go and play for an hour in front of three or three hundred people — that’s what makes me happy.”
But it’s a passion with benefits.
“I will say it’s great money, too,” Cole laughed.
Cole specialises in a number of styles, including electro house, Melbourne bounce and “shrap”.
Cole says a big help to his success has been the support of his friends.
“Definitely any big event I’ve done my mates have been there,” he said.
“It’s good to have that following.”
You can see DJ DACO at Wet ‘n’ Wild’s New Year’s Eve Festival this December with headlining artists such as Will Sparks.
